Switch to HollyHR

Switch from Breathe without losing the plot — or your files.

Plan the move around records, leave, documents and the people who still need the old system during cutover.

Can you move from Breathe to HollyHR?

Yes. HollyHR has a dedicated Breathe import path for core people data, and its own organisation export includes records and uploaded document binaries for future portability.

The move still needs a controlled cutover: export first, map fields, reconcile representative employees and decide when Breathe becomes read-only.

What matters

Export before notice

Take the available reports and document copies before access changes. Keep a dated, read-only exit pack.

Map, do not merely copy

Departments, managers, leave types and working patterns need deliberate mapping so the new system is cleaner than the old one.

Reconcile in public

Ask a few employees and managers to verify balances and documents before the final invitation wave.

A sensible cutover plan

Run discovery, test import, reconciliation and invitation as separate steps. That makes mistakes visible while they are still cheap to fix.

  • Inventory Breathe exports and add-on data
  • Map active people, managers, locations and leave categories
  • Test part-time and mid-year starters
  • Transfer and spot-check documents
  • Freeze old-system changes
  • Invite, monitor and retain the exit pack

Where Breathe is still broader

Breathe has a longer track record, mobile apps, a mature integration library, reporting, performance, rota, learning, expenses and health-and-safety add-ons. Move for HollyHR's fit — fair pricing, core workflow, openness and portability — not on the assumption that every module is identical.

Questions people ask

Does HollyHR import Breathe data?

Yes. HollyHR has a Breathe-oriented import flow for the core people dataset. The exact route for documents and historical data is agreed during early-access onboarding.

Can we try HollyHR before cancelling Breathe?

Yes. A short overlap is the sensible way to reconcile records and leave before making the old system read-only.

Is HollyHR feature-for-feature identical to Breathe?

No. HollyHR covers core HR strongly, but Breathe currently has broader workforce add-ons, native integrations, mature reporting and a longer operating history.

Proper HR, without the big-system palaver.

HollyHR is free for up to 10 active people. We're onboarding early-access teams one at a time.
