Bring someone in properly.
Create the person once, give the right people access and turn a start date into an owned journey rather than a hopeful checklist.
HollyHR is core HR software for small UK teams. People records, working patterns, leave, documents, starters and standard reports share the same dependable record — so simple does not mean shallow.
A feature list is only useful when you can see how the work fits together. HollyHR groups the core around three small-team jobs, with every deeper page describing what is available today.
Create the person once, give the right people access and turn a start date into an owned journey rather than a hopeful checklist.
Working patterns set request duration, current contracted-hours FTE sets regular-hours allowance, and the shared calendar keeps non-working days distinct from absence.
Use standard reports and the current org chart, then export organisation data and available uploaded files without negotiating your exit.
The product earns its keep in the hand-offs: a person’s contracted hours change current FTE and current regular-hours allowance, an approved request changes the shared view, and the underlying record remains useful for reporting and export.
Employment, department, location and reporting line start from one record.
The pattern gives leave calculations the days and hours they need.
The balance and Who's Away view reflect the same recorded request.
Reporting and organisation export use the record built through normal work.
A request arrives with the person’s real working pattern, current balance and useful team context. Managers can decide; employees can see what changed; Who’s Away uses the same recorded absence.
Reusable packs become person-specific journeys with relative due dates and clear owners. Private files, right-to-work evidence and policy acknowledgements stay with the record instead of disappearing into an inbox.
Built-in reports cover headcount, turnover and time off, while the current org chart makes reporting lines visible. When you need the underlying record, organisation export stays in the product rather than behind a retention call.
HollyHR keeps the employee experience light without hiding the controls that managers and administrators need behind it.
Book leave, see the live balance, complete assigned starter steps, find shared documents and acknowledge a policy.
Review requests, see team overlap, own onboarding steps and deal with several approvals without chasing a second spreadsheet.
Keep employment history, document requirements, working patterns, leaver controls and built-in reports dependable.
Breadth is helpful only when it exists. Here is the buying boundary today, so you can decide whether HollyHR’s working core is the right kind of enough.
Availability, boundaries and the mechanics buyers usually have to hunt for.
HollyHR's shipped core includes people records and employment history, working patterns, leave and sickness, the shared Who's Away calendar, private documents and compliance requirements, onboarding journeys, departments and locations, standard headcount, turnover and time-off reports, a current org chart, spreadsheet import and organisation export.
Yes. The Free plan is £0 for organisations with up to 10 active employee profiles and includes the core HR product rather than a time-limited demo. Standard is £2 per active employee per month and removes the 10-person limit.
Employees can book leave, see their recorded balance, complete assigned onboarding steps, access documents made available to them and acknowledge policies. Sensitive and admin-owned records remain controlled by role and membership.
Yes, for regular-hours staff. The effective working pattern determines the working days in each request; current contracted hours against the organisation's full-time week determine current FTE and current policy allowance. HollyHR also supports configured UK public-holiday sets and an iCal feed for the shared Who's Away calendar. It does not yet calculate irregular-hours entitlement from hours actually worked or blend allowance automatically when FTE changes mid-year.
Yes. The importer accepts CSV and Excel files, including BreatheHR employee exports, and lets you map fields and preview the result before records are saved.
HollyHR includes standard headcount, turnover and time-off reporting with CSV and PDF export. Sensitive named absence metrics are permission-gated. It does not currently present an arbitrary custom report builder as shipped.
Yes. Organisation export produces CSV data and includes available uploaded document files within the export limits. A manifest records what was included or skipped, and you can create the export without raising a support ticket.
No. HollyHR keeps the HR record and can produce a payroll-readiness export, but it does not run payroll, submit RTI or issue payslips. Recruitment, rota and time tracking, expenses, performance and learning are not sold as shipped features today.
