Create your calendar link
- Open Who's Away and select Add to calendar. Choose your own calendar, or the organisation calendar if your permissions offer it.
- Choose Subscribe, then Create subscription URL. Copy the resulting URL to the calendar account you intend to use.
- Keep this URL private: possession of it allows access to the feed. Do not include it in support messages, shared documents or public channels.
Add it to your calendar app
- In Google Calendar on a computer, use Other calendars → Add other calendars → From URL. Paste your HollyHR URL and add the calendar.
- In Outlook on the web, open Calendar → Add calendar → Subscribe from web. Enter the HollyHR URL and finish adding it. Follow Microsoft's guide below for your Outlook version.
- Use a subscription for ongoing updates. Downloading and importing an .ics file is a snapshot and will not keep itself current.
Updates and privacy
This is one-way: approved time away appears in your calendar, without private absence reasons. Editing a calendar event does not change HollyHR. Your calendar provider controls when it refreshes, so a new approval or cancellation may not appear immediately. Check Who's Away for the current HollyHR view.
Replace a link or stop subscribing
Creating a new subscription URL immediately invalidates the previous URL for that calendar. Update every calendar app using it. To stop displaying the feed, remove the subscription from your calendar app. If a link was shared accidentally, replace it in HollyHR; this stops old-link access but cannot erase events already cached elsewhere.
