HollyHR keeps the people and approval workflow. Xero Payroll UK receives only leave for an employee and category a System Admin has explicitly matched. HollyHR does not become your payroll engine.

Using HollyHR with Xero Payroll UK
What does the HollyHR Xero Payroll integration send?
It sends an approved HollyHR absence only after a System Admin has explicitly matched the person and leave category to Xero Payroll UK. HollyHR stores the exact Xero leave ID so a later cancellation can remove only that record.
Does HollyHR create employees or sync salary, tax or bank details?
No. HollyHR does not create or update Xero employees and does not call salary, wage, tax, payment-method, bank, pay-run or payslip endpoints. Employee matching uses only employee ID, employee number, name, work email and employment status.
Why does Xero ask for the payroll.employees permission?
Xero groups employee matching and employee leave under one broad permission that also covers more sensitive payroll endpoints. HollyHR discloses that breadth, then limits its own client to employee matching and exact leave creation or removal. It does not call the tax, bank or pay endpoints included in that provider permission.
Who can connect and configure Xero Payroll?
A HollyHR System Admin completes fresh verification, connects the organisation and confirms the employee and leave-type matches. The consenting Xero user must have Payroll Admin access. The administrator can then enable automatic sync for future approvals and their cancellations. Earlier approvals stay manual, and changed or uncertain records need review.
What happens if the Xero connection expires or is revoked?
Use Check connection from HollyHR. A confirmed Xero authentication rejection clears the unusable local credential and asks an administrator to reconnect. A temporary network or provider failure keeps the connection rather than incorrectly treating it as revoked.
Is HollyHR listed in the Xero App Store?
Not yet. The direct connector is available independently of an App Store listing. HollyHR will apply for Xero certification once provider proof is complete, at least ten active customer connections exist and HollyHR is on the required Plus tier. HollyHR will only claim a listing after Xero approves and publishes it.
